Services:
Equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) is a form of therapy that incorporates horses into the treatment process. It involves working with a licensed mental health professional and a certified equine specialist to use horses as a therapeutic resource.
Our program comprises four components; The Client, The Licensed Mental Health Professional, The Horse, and The Equine Specialist in Mental Health & Learning. This team of professionals determine how equine interactions, herd behavior, and the horse & human bond can all work together to enhance an individualized treatment plan that aligns with the client's goals of improving behavioral and emotional health & wellness.
Horses are considered to be a "mirror to your soul," and empirical data supports the physiological and mental health benefits of grooming, self-regulation, building trust, and working with these sentient beings.
The handsome guy who helped start it all. Henry was our first horse, is our logo, and about the sweetest boy you could ever meet.
Born in 2014, Henry is a buckskin quarter-horse gelding who stands 16.1hh tall and weighs 1100lbs. Henry is gentle and loving with both adults and children.
Born in 2017, June is a beautiful black Gypsy Vanner who stands 14.2hh tall and weighs 1300lbs. June is sweet, easy to work with, and always ready to meet you at the gate. Her gentle nature and disposition make her a great partner working with children.
Born in 2014, Bodhi is a silver grullo draft cross gelding who stands 15.3hh tall and weighs 1200lbs. Bodhi is still in training as he can be nervous around new people, but has a kind heart and a willingness to learn. He is on his therapy horse training journey to be able to help those with complex diagnoses and has brought structure and leadership to our herd.
Born in 2012, Ozzy is a grey quarter-horse gelding who stands at 14.3hh tall and weighs 970lbs. He is very sweet, works well with children, and has a wonderful demeanor. He came to us with a high level of anxiety and has since grown into a more confident and calm horse with greater self-efficacy.
Born in 2017, Sammy is a sorrel Morgan gelding who stands 16.2hh tall and weighs 1150lbs. Sammy has a very funny and goofy personality and loves people. He is the "bothersome brother" of the crew and loves to annoy and instigate play within the herd. Sammy works very well with children and is patient and kind.
Born in 2018 and acquired specifically for our clients who are new to horses and may be intimidated at first by the big boys, we have the sweetest mini donkeys who can help build confidence and learn the basics of safe horsemanship.
"Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, friendship without envy, or beauty without vanity? Here, where grace is laced with muscle and strength by gentleness confined.
He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity. There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent, there is nothing so quick, nothing more patient.
The past has been borne on his back. All our history is his industry; we are his heirs, he our inheritance."
~ Ronald Duncan, English Poet
“The horse is a great equalizer. He doesn’t care how good-looking you are, or how rich you are, or how powerful you are–he takes you for how you make him feel.”
“The horse is a mirror to your soul, and sometimes you may not like what you see. Sometimes, you will.”
~ Buck Brannaman, American Horse Trainer
"To look into the eye of a horse is to see a reflection of yourself that you might've forgotten."
~ Gillian Mears, Australian novelist.
